(Chen Tianyong, Huang Feiqing) On the afternoon of January 14, a delegation led by Yuan Donghua, Chairman of the Baiyun District Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited GZIST, whose members included leaders of Baiyun District CPPCC, directors of its special committees and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce. Huang Jiazhou, Chairman of the University Board,, President Hu Shejun, Executive Director of the Board Wei Fengqin, Executive Vice President Fu Huanchang, and Vice President Zhang Shimei warmly received the delegation.
Guided by President Hu Shejun, the delegation visited the University Archives, E-commerce Livestreaming Base, Yuanda Company, and the Engineering Center, then to the conference room for discussion. Vice Chair Xu Xiaobing of Baiyun District CPPCC expressed his gratitude to the university for its warm reception and affirming its achievements. She stressed that the main purpose of this visit was to see the university,, take the initiative to do a good job of connecting the local government with the university, build a platform for industry-university-research collaboration, and promote the better development of GZIST.
They spoke highly of the campus environment, the achievements made in recent years, and the university’s emphasis on new engineering as well as its continuous investment into its development.President Hu extended a warm welcome to Chairman Yuan Donghua and his delegation and gave an overview of the university.. He stressed that GZIST will further deepen the integration of industry and education, university-enterprise cooperation, improve the quality of application-oriented people development, and strive to build the institution into a nationally well-known and Guangdong Province first-class private higher learning institution which serves Baiyun District on a firm footing.
Li Yuzhong, Executive Dean of the School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering, introduced the implementation plan of MES intelligent manufacturing production line for Bawei Stock Company of Baiyun District.
Personnel from both sides made deep exchanges, and reached the intention of further cooperation in intelligent manufacturing, e-commerce livestreaming, product design, university-enterprise cooperation and other areas as well.
Chairman Huang Jiazhou expressed his sincere gratitude to Baiyun District for its continuous support to the university. He pointed out that higher education is to develop high-quality application-oriented talents for local industries. The university should closely relate the demands of industries to new academic disciplines, turn out talents and contribute to the development of Baiyun District.
After listening to the reports and discussions, Chairman Yuan Donghua summarized by firstly appreciating the uniersity’s achievements and expressing, on behalf of Baiyun District CPC Committee and District Government, his sincere blessings to the university leaders and teachers. He then talked about the background and significance of the visit, exrtremely satisfied with the results. In closing, he shared his thoughts for the future collaboration between Baiyun District and GZIST, demanding the relevant departments and the Chamber of Commerce to take the initiative approaching the university for joint construction of industrial platforms, laboratories, and practice bases. He expressed his confidence in the integration of industries in Baiyun District with the university.
