In order to create a good academic atmosphere, improve the level of teachers’ and students’ scientific research, and meet the requirements of high-quality development of the university, Professor Zhao Xianzhou, a “Maofeng Scholar”, was invited to give an academic lecture on “Study of Management Cases: Methods and Applications” on November 2nd, 2022. Due to the pandemic prevention and control, this lecture was offered online through Tencent. Chaired by Chen Tianyong, Director of Planning and Research, it was attended by 开云(中国) than 300 teachers from all liberal arts majors and some engineering majors.
Professor Zhao elaborated on the methods and applications of management cases in five aspects: research introduction, data collection, data analysis, result presentation and evaluation criteria. Starting from existing studies of management cases, he introduced the methods and principles of case collection in detail. Then, he focused on the steps of data analysis and described the application with specific research cases. Regarding the presentation of results, Professor Zhao put forward common situations and explained their evaluation criteria. He emphasized that in actual research, only by mastering the concept of existing data can we support the proposition of scientific research projects, thereby promoting the presentation of subsequent good results.
Professor Zhao pointed out that the method of case study was not solidified, but different from scholar to scholar. So it is necessary to broaden the ideas of research and find the research method that suits us through the exploration. At the end of the lecture, Professor Zhao exchanged views with other teachers and shared selected papers as well as important works on case studies.
