The School of Economics and Management (SEM) was founded in 2005, originally named “Department of Finance and Economics”, renamed “School of Finance and Economics” on May 1, 2015, and renamed “School of Economics and Management” on December 29, 2017.
SEM has four undergraduate majors: Accounting, Financial Management, International Economics and Trade and Economics (Finance), and one new major in Internet Finance, among which Accounting is Guangdong Province Distinctive Specialty and the University First-Class Specialty. Financial Management is the University Key Specialty and Applied Economics is the University Key Construction Specialty. The School currently has 2, 238 students, 81 full-time teachers and 30 adjunct teachers. Among the faculty, 10 are professors, 25 associate professors and 7 teachers awarded doctoral degrees. Among the full-time teachers, one was awarded the honorary title of “Excellent Teachers of Private Education in Guangdong Province”, three were awarded the University honorary titles “Renowned Teacher” and “Model Teacher”,, four were awarded the University honorary title “My Favorite Teacher”, and the percentage of the“Dual Role-Capability Faculty” (qualified for both teacher and engineer with both teaching and hands-on capabilities) accounts for over 60%.
SEM attaches great importance to the cultivation of students’ practical ability. It has one Province-Designated Economics and Management Training Center and two Province-Designated Practice Bases with good experimental teaching conditions, offering experimental training courses in Accounting, Financial Management, Electronic Taxation, Securities Investment, International Trade Practice, Documentary Practice, Financial Software. Over the years, SEM has made full use of social resources to carry out collaborative education and has established 15 off-campus internship bases, including Kingdee International Software Group, BDO China-SHU LUN PAN Certified Public Accountants LLP and Zhong Sui Accounting Firm. It has co-built a provisional practice base for college students with Minsheng Securities Co., Ltd, and introduced Tianjian Certified Public Accountants’ Firm to the University to jointly build a practice base where students can participate in practices based on actual business scenarios. Our students have high comprehensive quality and strong professional application ability. In the past three years, they have won 98 national and 86 provincial awards in discipline competitions. Our students have strong competitiveness, wide adaptability and high social satisfaction in the labor market, resulting in an average employment rate above 96%.
